Price Of Sin Poem by Bernedita Rosinha Pinto

Price Of Sin

Rating: 4.5

Life will not wait forever
as years will turn into an old windmill
slowing down the momentum of force within
taking energy up and down till it evaporates
the expectations into mist of frustration;
sin will not let men gain forgiveness
for crimes are sins and sins are crimes
the connection is never accepted
for in the gainful race of life
all that is done, however big or small
one thinks it was the necessary step for prosperity
though fortune gathers and delight conceals sin;
To do and not to do,
what is right and what is wrong
or to support and promote sins
or to just stand by and watch;
to be indifferent to grim realities
is worthless as existence forbids surrender;
in the twilight of inaccuracy and deception
no greater punishment appears
when at the end of life
old age will offer no opportunity for regrets or resolve
and in that action of overlooking the sins of others
by not correcting them, by silently admitting them
by pretending they never happened
thy own soul is lost for the crimes of others
just like a lighted matchstick engulfing a haystack
along with the sins of others will also perish your own soul.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Don't abet sins- for upholding truth is greater than overlooking sin.
