Presumption Poem by Francis Duggan

Presumption

'Methought' the lucky bloke has found himself a cutie
With shoulder length blond hair she really looked a beauty
They chatted as they sipped their cappucino
Miss georgeous and her dark haired Valentino.

A woman in her early twenties young and active
The type that most young males would find attractive
Wearing green cardigan and brown slacks to display her perfect figure
She'd not look so pretty had she grown any bigger.

The dark haired male he looked many years older
Than the young beauty with blond hair to her shoulder
And in stark contrast his moustache of silver gray
Told he was many years past his prime day.

And at their table they were then joined by another
And methought this young bloke has to be her brother
But then I overheard her say dear Paddy
I would like to introduce you to my daddy.

I chided myself for my self delusion
For I had come to form the wrong conclusion
And I felt some guilt at my wrong assumption
But some people are open to presumption.
