Liberal achievements on
Climate change
Race and immigration
Reproductive rights,
Gun control,
Criminal justice reform
All hang in the balance.

Sanders ended the interview
With this rallying cry:
Frappez toujours
Trump's agenda's only supported
by 1% happy few, and Rust Belt's destitute
Grassroot's job is to mobilise & educate
And to fight back at every instance.

If you ever doubted the power of poetry
Ask yourself why, in any revolution
Poets are often the first to be shot
—whether it's Spanish Fascists
Murdering García Lorca
Or Stalin killing Mandelstam.

We poets can become nuclear
Weapons of Hate-destruction
In the long run contra-terrorist
War against hate and injustice.
