Pandemic Tribulations. Poem by Safiyyah Manjra

Pandemic Tribulations.

When you become angry with her,
I want you to take a good look at her face,
Remember the love you do not want to erase.

Kiss her forehead.
Instead…

We are in a current pandemic of COVID-19.
Almost 1000 women were recently murdered in Mexico.
As lockdown in three months with domestic violence continuing to and fro.

However, it would be silly to think domestic violence is only occurring in Mexico,
When it is occurring all over the world as we know.

These acts of anger portrayed against women or men,
Is something we both must try to condemn.

Anger when used,
Can leave another severely abused.

When will we learn?
To void the antagonizing concern?

From bickering to battering.
To bloodshed in homes with children crying.
This is all demeaning.

As humans, we don't deserve,
To lift hands against another we are trying to conserve.

So I ask of you,
Before you think of such an act or do.

To simply kiss her forehead,
Instead.
