Oh! Palestine Poem by Aminath Neena

Oh! Palestine

Rating: 5.0

Oh Palestine
I weep for you
In this dissolute darkness
Suffocating in this pitiful abyss
Screaming in the sanctioned silence
Tossing, turning and fidgeting
A helpless spectator watching
As you lie broken and bleeding

Oh Palestine
I am broken
Broken and bleeding too
Though I dwell in a safer place
I breathe you, I feel you
I am you at this delicate time
For your mothers and children are no different from mine
When our blood has no barriers or boundaries to define

Oh Palestine
I am here
I am here for you
Arms outstretched with love
Down on my knees
Praying for you a miracle
To bring back even a tiny sparkle
Of hope that would melt this vicious circle

Oh Palestine
I am hoping
I still have hope
That humanity will become victorious
That iron will somehow melt to become putty
That the ray of truth will find a way out at last
And light will penetrate through this resilient fort
To bring an end to your misery and distort

Oh Palestine
I close my eyes
And I have a wishful dream for you
Of gardens of ripening olive trees
Of children playing in the sunshine
Of freedom and abundance of gaiety
Of the glorified sacred land's prosperity
And that you live forever in peace and dignity

I love you Palestine.
