Night Shadows Poem by glen salem

Night Shadows

Darkness into darkness the night has conquered the land
Daylight is now empty with nowhere to stand

The early morning light is powerful and begins anew
Starting high in the sky, settling downward as the night turns blue

The shadows are here and have arrived to welcome a new day
They all stand in the same direction to show us the way

Shadows are ambassadors of the sun, they are ministers of sunshine
They weave through the mountains, and the trees every morning at the same time

Smaller they grow their midday work is so much less
But there is a lot more to do after a brief rest

The shadows grow taller through the day and into the afternoon
The daylight grows weaker as the night will arrive soon

The shadows join hands and feet and soon will become one
And darkness has again conquered the land and conquered everyone

The nights are just shadows holding hands and standing together
The ministers of sunshine are always with us, with us forever and ever
