Never Lasting Life Poem by Bernedita Rosinha Pinto

Never Lasting Life

Rating: 5.0

Varied are those moments of life,
someone hopes to laugh,
while someone sits to cry;
someone hopes to love and wed,
someone dies and goes to rest;
life in all its wonderment
relinquishes the mystery
embedded in a shell
to unravel it and clutch it
without dread or repulse
but with innumerable options
one can select or discard;
and as the trailer of life unfolds reality
afflictions, heartbreaks, verdicts and victories,
hurdle up and down without respite;
life in all its splendor falters
when after years of living together
one has to depart from this universe-
for that is what makes us to sigh
as all that is achieved, attained, acquired,
loses its luster, loses its worth, loses it breath
unto just one grasp of death.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Acceptance of reality is the greatest truth. Greed, ambition and greatness dissolves into nothing once life lays itself on the ground for eternal rest.
