Mothers Day Poem by Hannah Davies

Mothers Day

Mothers Day means nothing to me
is this really how you wanted things to be?
Once upon a time I had a mum
but you were disappointed and wished I hadn't come.
Tried everything I could
for you to love me as you should.
How do you expect me to love you?
after all the abuse you put me through.
Everything I did you criticised
but at least I wasn't the one who lied.
Responsibilities mean nothing to you
you don't consider the consequences of anything you do.
Sorry seems to be a hard word for you to say
you always made sure you got your own way.

Don't think for one second that I have forgotten
how you treated me so rotten.
Always thought you were best
constantly putting me to the test.
You no longer have a daughter
you will have to find someone else to torture.
