Mohiniattam 2 - The Graceful Dance Of Kerala Poem by Geeta Radhakrishna Menon

Mohiniattam 2 - The Graceful Dance Of Kerala

Rating: 5.0

The graceful dance of Mohiniattam is
The dance of the enchantress!
The tinkling sound of the anklets,
The feet moving with languorous grace,
The toes pointing like a ballerina,
The heels striking gently with the rhythm,
The arms like wings of an exotic bird.
Tender movements unfurling into ripples of joy.

She springs up and down with elegance,
She swings forward and back with grace,
She sways softly with melodious sopanam music,
She taps and dances gently to edakka beats,
She revolves and circles with exquisite steps,
Symphony of charming dance and music.

The horizontal motion of the dancer's body is
Like the Palm's willing submission
To the caresses of the gentle breeze.
The graceful dart of the body is
Like the sweeping waves of the sea,
As they lovingly stir the sandy beaches.
Like a fish in blue lagoons prancing and diving
Into the bubbling backwaters of Kerala.

Those who have not seen an artiste perform on stage can feel the impeccable beauty, elegance of movement and an emotional transcendence through a variety of thematic presentation. Great poetic treat. Thanks, Geeta ji. The arms like wings of an exotic bird. Tender movements unfurling into ripples of joy.

Dear madam, you have astutely and incisively depicted this poem titled 'Dance 7 - Mohiniattam - The Graceful Dance Of Kerala ' The style of this dance is so amusing and attractive. It is dance of the enchantress! Tender movements unfurling into ripples of joy. The last stanza says vividly about the motion of the dancer's body. It is glad that you and your daughter have danced for fifteen years. May God bless you both with all family members. This is really a beautiful poem.10
