Miss Independent Poem by The runner who hides

Miss Independent

Miss Independent 8-22-08
Becoming someone else
Do I like her or not?
I don’t know yet and I don’t really know where she came from

Never needing anyone
Or at least telling myself I could do it on my own
Now sharing things I’ve never told anyone
with a boy I haven’t known that long

Telling big M and big D
My confusions and asking permission
Miss Independent is
Losing independence
Because it needs to happen
Losing drugs and cutting
No longer outs
I told them
To get help
To live my life
With the fewest scars
To my heart.
