There is only you
who could be everything -
from the student days of your youth
to the pursuance of your dreams,
from a man among our people
to a leader among our leaders,
from a Member of our Legislative Assembly
to the positions of our Chief Minister;
and when you were appointed
the Defence Minister of our country
your decisions were so crucial
as our country's safety was your paramount duty.

How unbelievable yet true was your destiny!

Will any Goan ever be all that you have been?

You excelled yet you returned
with grace and humbleness
to serve us as our Chief Minister again
with the same fervour,
with the same diligence.
Your career, your choice
to be the people's voice,
your dedication to Goa
your commitment to uphold righteousness
amidst any turmoil
was so pertinent to your promises;
the field of politics was
just like a game of chess
where every rook, every pawn you moved
to reach to the threshold of
peoples' expectations and Goans' welfare.

Where shall I begin to write
about the achievements
of a living legend called ‘you'
- in our books of valour or gratitude?
