Love Sonnet 92: 'the Rose That Wafts Its Perfume In The Air, '

The rose that wafts its perfume in the air
Exudes a sweetness pleasant to the smell,
That although when already quite so fair,
An added virtue it still have as well;
And now it fills the plate as some food treat,
Though Shakespeare wrote so much about the rose,
The Bard knew not that it was good to eat,
For it was not a thing he did disclose;
But thorns reduce the roses' equity,
As fools and sages may well then argue,
Why life behaves thus is a mystery,
And nary did my mind present a clue;
......But love I'm to access, hindrance despite,
......Should even battlements secure the site.
