Lonely Trails Poem by JHP HUGHES

Lonely Trails

Darken clouds and blue stars,
How often shall you visit?
To find my long winded prayers ignored,
For the geese still walk onto my porch.
Like the sound of crunchy leafs going home,
No footsteps behind footprints of mine.
As I retrace our last farewell.
There was hope in sunsets, before
the wolves moaned madly.
And the mood storms took over my bed.
You were the sunlight to a harridan head.
As I lift skirt tails in laughter; embraced
our meld with glowing grey matter.
Now my love hidden in wondering twilight.
I am blinded by the clouds and stars.
They are blacken to prayers ceased.
For hope is willow as the hollow tree.
My eyes, sob in weary wanders refuge.
And I wish upon sunrise, the planets reverse
and the moon shall disappear evermore.
There I should replete myself and be clothed.
When a blessing has laddered down from the sky.
