Little Luci Poem by Humphrey Bryant

Little Luci

Little Luci
Unlike every other kid
Came to this world with his leg first
Looking little; an unravel cupid
And tongue rolling from hunger and thirst

Little Luci
Grew so fast
Like a flag hoist on a mast
Nothing he remembered not even his past
His bowels always idle but he didn't fast

Little Luci
Was never in class;
Yet he made a first class
He ate with his slate
And wrote on his plate

Little Luci
His eyes were like torch
Torch so bright from scotch
He ate the cats
And fed the rats

Little Luci
Spoiled his mother's Sunday chat
With blistering whistle,
Spoiled his father's Sunday hat
With sordid plastering

Little Luci
"You are an imp" the prophets thunder
"Where did you come from? " his mother wonder
"Am I your father? " his father ponder
They all say "go yonder"

Little Luci
Was the vermin they couldn't solve
No remedy they sought made him revolve;
They made him evolve
Until the last day God won't involve.
