Life's Only One Road Trip, I've Chosen Me Poem by Amanda Shelton

Life's Only One Road Trip, I've Chosen Me

Rating: 5.0

I feel you crumbling in my arms
like a porcelain heart down
to the girth you fell so hard.

Why don't you take what you want,
why don't you take what you need,
why don't you take what you came for
and leave me alone?

Life's too short to keep running
from the beast.

Life's only one road trip,
I've chosen me.

No narcissist is going to control me.

You left your shadow hovering over
my bed, with your vampire teeth.

My lucid dreams are bleeding,
bleeding black and deep.

You will never meet anyone like me.

Why don't you take what you want,
why don't you take what you need,
why don't you take what you came for
and leave me alone?

Life's too short to keep running
from the beast.

Life's only one road trip,
I've chosen me.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This is inspired by my ex narcissistic boyfriend. He abused me for seven years and trapped me in his circle of fear and insanity. If you feel trapped in an abusive relationship you need to get free. The hardest part is being brave enough to get out. You are not alone. I've been in your shoes before. A relationship shouldn't feel bad or insane. A partner should support you and encourage you. You should do the same for your partner. A relationship should be two people who enjoy life together.

The date you wrote/ submitted this heart-touching poem is my BirthDAY. As information for you. How are you NOW going? I hope you feel better each day, seven years treated cruelly, how saddest!

Such heart felt feelings so vividly expressed, my time heal your open wounds and mend your heart as not all men are the same. Stay strong.

Excellent poem. In my experience, people like this don't realize how good something was until they have lost it. Beware! This clown will try to: "make up for ‘everything' I've (he has) done"
