Letter To Grave Poem by Kate Peters

Letter To Grave

Rating: 5.0

The words pierced with it’s sharpness into me.
But I realized my pain was nothing.
His pain was much more...
“Death is before me” he said with pain.
My pain was only a reflection.
I see mist, not truth.
I feel pain, but not death.
Each word of his was grave.
But I did not know its importance.
I knew only one word and its meaning-friendship.
My only faith was love
The love and prayers to put away death.
But there was a greater love than mine-a mother’s love

When my tears flowed,
I felt those were the greatest love
The best of prayers to capture the love of life

But the mother’s heart…,
It was lost in the pain of loss.
Each tear carried his life
Why doesn’t God have mercy on her?

The time ticked away…
His words became hidden
I returned to my world of joy and hope,
While pain and death covered him

He was a flower –his words smooth as petal.
But fate wronged him
Fate favored death and not our prayers.
The wicked and cruel fists of death grabbed his soul
There was no mercy in its eyes

The world seemed cursed
His words haunted me
Tears puddle everywhere

God did not take heed to my prayers
But why were the mother’s prayers unheard?
I pray, no mother should have her fate
And no friend mine
GOD SHOW MERCY ON US-THE WORLD
But the truth is always hidden and unseen
