Leaves Poem by Nontobeko Dlamini

Leaves

Rating: 5.0

Branches dance to the soft
rhythm of the wind
Old worn out leaves
Float away to the ground
As they draw their last breath
Laying blind and lifeless
To all the dangers of being
trembled on
Washed away in a summer rain
Venturing downhill
Dodging trees small and big
Making a stop once in a while
Getting stuck between branches
And taking on the journey once
more
Surfing the brown angry waves
To the stream ahead
Others lost in the way
Getting caught in the grass
Burried by the moving sediments
At last resting in peace
Dust to Dust
Finaly giving way to decay
To provide nutrients to the
vegetation
Bringing new life
Getting back to life again
