I don't like French.
Too many letters, not enough sound.
I don't like Russian.
Looks like alphabet soup, wherever it's found.
I don't like German.
Sounds like you're talking through a gag.
I don't like Italian.
For letter i's it does not lag.
You spend your hours in study at school.
Each noun and verb, each grammatical rule.
You stare at the book, you study and cram.
While not daydreaming, you train for exam.
Reflexive and infinitive, masculine and feminine.
Each and every little word, every single tense it's in.
The pleasant, sunny days you miss.
The TV shows you must resist.
But when you take that trip,
And you disembark that ship;
Or when your plane comes down,
And you're in that foreign town,
You find the natives, old and young;
All can speak the English tongue.
