Kitara Poem by Chukwuebuka Adebayo

Kitara

Rating: 5.0

The only wonder i never know,
Is her undying love for everyone;
The only friend i failed to trust,
Was kitara our happy and peaceful dog.

She'd hit me with a dancing tail;
With all joy, she'd jumped out for a hug
And would give me a cold kiss in the leg.
Yet i would kicked her like a dirt-bag.

The good nature i knew her for never changed,
She's got a heart that always forgives;
Fires nor rains won't make her hate you;
She would do what only mothers could do.

Where the doting lies in her heart,
She's ever ready to go through flying bullets
And would run fast along a burning house;
To help the poor me, my sisters and everyone.

But all she asked for was to be loved,
And nothing but a warm bowl of food;
In spite of all the much she did for us;
We never for a while gave one to her;

Now kitara got sick, suffered and died,
All our neighbors walk round rejoicing;
But dogs never dies as long as we love them
But if they should, kitara will go to heaven.
