This is digging so very deep, Richard. The story of Jack and Jan really is fascinating. If I remember correctly, they only met a few times, and briefly. Yet Jan became so attached to her father. Those sad and brief meetings could fill volumes. Just brilliant, Richard!

M.J., I may be wrong but I think that Jack was deeply troubled and remorseful about his lack of responsibility in this relationship. I find it very surprising how many of the poems in this series address these themes.
