Indigo Echoes - A Tale Of The Color Blue Poem by Curtis Keith Barker

Indigo Echoes - A Tale Of The Color Blue

Greek - Kuanos
French-Bleu
German - Blao
Egypt - Lapis Lazuli
Spanish - Azure
India - Indigo

In realms of ancient mystic lore, a color, deep and true,
Bleu, they called it in Old French, a hue with secrets too.
From Blao's shimmering lustrous gleam, to Eastern skies so high,
Blue held meanings vast and varied, 'neath heaven's endless sigh.

In noble courts of yore, it soared, a symbol of their might,
Azure banners proudly waved, in daylight's gentle light.
A status symbol, rare and grand, the privileged few could wear,
For blue was dyed in riches deep, a color rich and rare.

In Egypt's land of ancient gods, it graced divinity,
The heavens mirrored in their gaze, a symbol of infinity.
Lapis Lazuli, gemstone bright, adorned the pharaoh's reign,
While crushed and used, its vivid hue, in paint and makeup's gain.

In Hindu tales, the blue of Krishna, love and joy did bring,
Divine and joyful, ever pure, his song did sweetly sing.
Latin Holy Mother Mary, mantle's blue, in sacred robes did shroud,
A symbol of devotion, to the heavens it allowed.

In Korea's solemn mourning dress, blue draped in deep despair,
A color for remembrance, a weight they all must bear.
Cyan, from the Greek 'kuanos, ' in medical terms did rise,
In cyanosis, life's precious breath,
Upon a sixteenth moon sliver
a fading azure sky waxes an inky black.

In heraldry's grand tapestry, azure takes its stand,
A word for blue in noble halls, across the ancient land.
So blue, a color rich and deep, in history's grand tableau,
From Bleu to Blao, from azure skies,
its tale it still bestows.
In realms of dye and cloth, let's weave a verse on Blue,
Indigo, the secret ink, where tales of blue accrue.
From leaves of plants and ancient crafts, its dye did brightly bloom,
In indigo's deep azure shade, history found its room.

From India's fields to distant shores, its journey did unfold,
A treasure of the trade, they say, like stories yet untold.
A color born from nature's art, a gift from earth and sky,
Indigo's hue, in cloth and ink, with time would never die.

In textiles grand, its presence found its place,
A symbol of tradition and style, from every walk of life's embrace.
From ancient roots to modern threads, indigo's tale we find,
In blue-dyed fabric, rich and deep, a legacy intertwined.

The color, blue, with meanings vast, across the ages spun a Loom,
From mystic powers to status high, its journey's just begun.
In Eastern skies and Western realms, in cultures far and wide,
The color blue, a tapestry of tales, in azure dreams, we glide.
