If Sweet Songs Were For You Poem by Lesiba Mphahlele

If Sweet Songs Were For You

Rating: 5.0

If sweet songs were for you,
I'd sing them with a heart so true!
If the words were mine,
For you, I'd chop them fine.

But since neither is there,
Let this love perish in despair.
So sad when I dream of a win,
The cold dark reality sinks in.

Because we can't afford this time,
I will give this generous rhyme:
If only hearts were brave enough, dear,
And harmonious breezes good to the ear,

Then all this would be a twinkle thought
In all the lavish romance we could've cought!
