I Wouldn't Take It Back Poem by Randy McClave

I Wouldn't Take It Back

Don't think that you ever used me
Don't think that you ever took advantage of me
Only statement that is true
I just saw the sadness in you.
I saw and heard how you were being mistreated
And I saw how you also lied and cheated
I saw and heard how you were being done
For someone else's needs and fun.
I saw a sadness in your eyes
How you were never seen or treated as a prize
And I felt the pain and loneliness in your heart
From the very start.
I gave you a place to go to and to live
And also I gave you help and I did give
I was the first man who had ever put you first
I then took you proudly to my church.
Whatever that you needed I was always there
I was the only who worried and did care,
Think about me all that you want
But, no pain and suffering from me cannot and will not ever haunt.
Don't ever think that you had tricked me
Sometimes with the wrong eyes you look and see
Another truth that is a certainty and a fact
What I did for you, I would never take it back.
