I Want To Take A Pilgrimage Poem by Susan Williams

I want to take a pilgrimage
to somewhere I have never been
or to somewhere I have ever been
it does not matter--it can be today or tomorrow or any age
.
I want to take my heart on a pilgrimage
and show it the deep rolling ocean waves
or the shimmering mountain river waves
it does not matter--as long as it is not a cage.
.
I want to take my memories on a pilgrimage
and show them all the good roads I once travelled
or all the difficult paths I wish I hadn't travelled
it does not matter--I can always turn Past's page
.
I want to take my soul on a pilgrimage
and dive deep into the Jordan that purifies
or rise with the sun singing a new song that clarifies
it does not matter--my spirit will soon be riding the land of purple sage.
