I'Ve Learned Not To Poem by Nichole Herrin

I'Ve Learned Not To

I learned not to cry.
Because if I did all my pain would come out.
I learned to hide behind my mask.
So people couldn't see my pain.
I learned to act like nothing is wrong,
when everything is wrong.
I learned to look happy.
I learned to sound happy.
I learned to seem fearless,
when in reality I am scared beyond belief.
I learned to act like I trust easily.
When I can hardly trust anyone because everytime I do, they leave or hurt me.
I learned to keep myself at a distance from everyone.
I learned to keep people out of my mind.
I built walls.
Then I met him.
He broke through my walls and saved me.
I learned to cry.
I learned to come out from behind my mask.
I learned to show something's wrong when I need the comfort.
I learned to be truly happy.
I learned to trust.
I learned to believe
I learned to love.
All because of him.
