I Tried Poem by Jayne Doe

I Tried

Rating: 5.0

Well, father's all slouched
Asleep on the couch
Surrounded by bottles galore,
And I have no doubt
That mother passed out
For her cigarette's burning the floor.

Brother's lost his clothes
And no one quite knows
Where sister has gone for the day,
Or maybe last night
She slipped us all by
And decided to stay far away.

I've woken for school
But feel like a fool
For I don't know where it is,
And father and mother
Don't like to be bothered
With things such as silly as this.

Teacher says I should come
Or become a bum
And I say, I quite agree,
But it's not fair
Cuz I'd like to care
But I can't take the time for me.

I must clean brother's clothes
Make sure sister comes home
And check if the parents will wake,
Put mother's smoke out
Clean bottles now
The empties are all I shall take

Then I'll go back to bed
Lay down my head
And picture all I could be,
But it won't be so
And I think you should know
It's nothing but dreaming for me.

Beautiful poetry. The real time we are going through.

Sadly so, it does reflect reality. Thanks for the read and comment!
