I Cannot Find Peace Poem by Katie Cooper

I Cannot Find Peace

Rating: 4.8

I cannot find peace-
It is nowhere in this world.
Silence does not exist, and
My soul is ever in turmoil.
My mind races with a hundred thoughts,
Never at rest, never ceasing.
There is no calm within me.

I am tired-
Tired of not knowing, tired of wondering.
I am weary
Of this life and its emptiness.
Is Solitude a blessing or a curse?

Questions arise-of God, Life, Eternity,
But I receive no answers.
Has God given me the ability to think
Or to be tortured with things unanswered?

My soul is an ocean, turbulent and deep.
Under a sometimes tranquil surface
There are tides, pulling and pushing.
Back and forth, waves roll and crash-
Never ceasing, stirring up grains of sand
Into a swirling haze.

It's so hard to see clearly at times-
All that is left to do is hope
That peace will come, to settle
The haze of reckless thought.

I want to see, I desire to see
But why am I still so blind?

Katie your poem echos one of my first I ever wrote at 16 years old so, speaking from experience I can tell you that life does in fact get better and things do come together. Be patient but be observant and when you see something that interest you give it a good hard look and try to understand why. The meaning of it even if you see it, touch it, taste it, do it, all in little parts will accumulate into the bigger picture of your life. Always look for the different side of every situation because there is where I found myself, and I surmise you will too. I realized that I am so much more then the shallow people who only do see the surfice of what is going on and I know because I do understand that that makes me unique. Being unique is a blessing but also a curse because no one likes someone who is (like you) smarter that they are. Never go with the status quo never never never... be yourself and try not to be too hard or critical of you. Enjoy the road of life and as is said 'stop and smell the roses' Okay? Take care my friend... Rick
