I Am Proud Poem by Bharati Nayak

Proudness is a quality
That is virtue and vice
At the same time.
When one is proud for others for a good cause
It is an extension of his good wishes to others
If he is proud for himself only
For any materialistic gain
And treat others with scorn and disdain
It is certainly a vice.
I am proud for my country, my motherland
Proud of her rich and multi ethnicity culture
Her democratic establishments and varied languages
Her heritage, accomplishments, progress and prosperity
As a citizen of India, I hold my head in pride.
I am proud of our brave soldiers
Who are guarding our Motherland day in and day out
Keeping watch in harshest conditions,
Fighting both external and internal enemies
And sacrificing their lives for our security.
I am proud of my schools and institutions
From where I grew to be an accomplished citizen.
I am proud of my parents and family
Whose love and care
Have shaped me to what I am.
I am proud of the values
Inculcated in me through teachings and good books
And proudly stand by
The principles and morality I profess.
