Waqt se pehlay baDay rasatal main
khudi ka namo nishan nahin
aur rooh mili jhuli hue haiUrsula K. Le Guin
dhund, pathar our roshni main.

Waqat k guzarne par
rooh dundhli khudi ko janam deti hai
fir, dheere dheere waqat khudaee ko pathar manata hai
aur saath hi saath rooh ko tab tak ujala deta hai
jab rooh kjudaaee ko chod deti hai
aur donoN azaad hotay hue
baDay rasatak ko vapis jaatay hain
aur roshni main mil jul jaatay hain
roshni jo waqat k baad hamesha k liyay rehti hai.

In the vast abyss before time, self
is not, and soul commingles
with mist, and rock, and light. In time,
soul brings the misty self to be.
Then slow time hardens self to stone
while ever lightening the soul,
till soul can loose its hold of self
and both are free and can return
to vastness and dissolve in light,
the long light after time.
