Hold On Dear Child Poem by Tshenolo Ntau

Hold On Dear Child

Hold on dear child, you will make it

Mixed feeling runs through the mind
Inquisitive anxious and restless
I wonder how it is going to be like
The 6th October, my first examination day
For there shall be no other day like it

Hold on dear child
Calm down and fear not
For it is just a date
Calm down and gear up for the day
For it is a day to pour out what you have been learning

Will I be able to finish the race well?
Have I prepared well?
Have I been taught well?
Will I represent my class well?
Will I represent my teacher well?
Will I represent my school well?

Hold on dear child
You will do exceedingly well
Arise and shine; for your light has come,
And the glory of the LORD has risen upon you

Be encouraged dear child
It is a moment to express your work
Don't be intimidated by the set up
It's the usual chairs you have been using
It's the usual tables you have been using
Don't be intimidated by the big envelope
It contains the very questions you have been revising
You can do it and you will do very well
Go out and conquer

Dear child, don't be afraid, The Lord is with you
Don't tremble with fear.
For He is your God;
He will make you strong and protect you in His arms
Go out and claim your victory
