Hermit Of Endor Poem by Elliott Rosenberg

Hermit Of Endor

Today we breathe, cheer and reclaim our freedoms that we're robbed to us by the empire,
Today we stand witness to the assault of the second Death Star,
Today Darth Sidious is mortified,
Fulfilling Anakin's destiny as the chosen one,
For the hero with no fear is victorious.

Transformed from a man of the light to an evil cyborg,
Doomed by the inability to let go,
With ability to probe the thoughts of others,
Luke learns he is Vader's son.

A hermit by his own right Luke proclaims:
'I've accepted the truth that you were once Anakin Skywalker, my father.'
'That name no longer has any meaning for me.'
'It is the name of your true self. You've only forgotten. I know there is good in you. The Emperor hasn't driven it from you fully.'

Two twins separated at birth,
Luke and Leila.
Destined to fulfill a prophesy.
One a Royal of Alderaan,
One a Force of Jedi.

At the battle of Endor Anakin finds light at the cost of his own life,
His children search for knowledge to rebuild the order of the Jedi.
With Ben at his side they study Jedi lore and defeat the knights of Ren,
Yet the dark side conquers Princess Leila's son as he converts to Kylo Ren.

Gifted with the raw powers of the Jedi bloodline,
Kylo proclaims himself leader of the knights,
marauders and mercenaries to the Galaxy,
An enclave of masked warriors, imbued with the power of the force.

As Kylo made his way to the light side,
Luke by his side,
Two hermits set to save Endor and its fauna from the dark side.
And so the saga continues.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem was inspired at Kachemak Bay state park, Alaska. It was a hazy day. The moon just floated latently through the endless daylight. The green mountains shaded by snow capped cirques. Posted signs said " Beware of Bears" . I foraged on wild berries. I suddenly felt like a hermit on the forest moon of Endor. A witness to the battle that was brewing that would take the life of Darth Vader witness to the rise of a new republic. So I dedicate this poem to all lovers of Star Wars and those that do not fear the Ewoks. Written August 1st,2022
