Grey Clouds Poem by Dr Shamim Ali

Grey Clouds

Grey Clouds Darkening the Whole Land
The sky is covered with grey smoke and blood dripping from people's wounds
Sarcophagus that passes through roads and lanes
Through day and night, with the grand clouds darkening the whole land,
With the gravity of the inloop'd flags, with the cities draped in black,
Seeps like sewage ‘blood from our bodies
And the freedom we're fighting for seems to be dead
Nor for you, Not for anyone, only for coffins
From blossoms and flowers to coffins, all we bring become a custom
For fresh as the morning, thus would we make wreaths for coffins
All over bouquets o' coffin! I cover you over with roses
Early buds and flowers it wasn't your destiny to adorn the caskets
All around, you were made to spread your beautiful fragrance
We can't triumph over terrorism it has become our destiny
But we're deep in sludge over the mire and grime we've been fed
While more and more of our people martyred are awake in the bed of paradise
The wind is blowing like a hurricane in the frightening, desolated lands
Where the wolves are insane, And hawks feast on bloody souls
We are decking our songs for the large sweet soul that has gone
And what shall my perfume be, for the grave of him I love?
Bullets shooting, innocent children dying, mothers crying
While the wolves are hiding and getting command of the brutality
There the beasts are behind the wolves hiding their faces with masks
But God knows the truth, and He's everlastingly sighing
Widows are sobbing no hands are found to wipe off the tears
Orphan children with bare feet gunshots ringing in their ears
Hearts are frozen numb with fear no one is there to shelter them
Of hope too far-away, can't have a hold of the galaxy
Souls wounded and blemished, ill fate scorches the cloudless horizon
Desolate, bleak, disenchanted by the dark evil spirit of destiny
