Goldfinch Poem by LeeAnn Azzopardi

Goldfinch

Rating: 5.0

Goldfinch, why are hitting the window?
You could kill yourself
Cursing the house with death
I wonder if you are my Dad
Reincarnated to a beautiful bird
With the colour of the sun
As you fly through the flowers
On the magnolia tree
All day, I watch you with yr mate
Through the window on a sunny day
Only if you could tell us you're him
And that you are happy
My mind would be at ease
As you return to the skies
Piercing the clouds
Going beyond heaven
