Girl With A Puppy Poem by L MILTON HANKINS

Girl With A Puppy

Curious, she came out to see who
Papa was talking to out on the porch
Her face was framed in blond curls
She cuddled a puppy in her arms
Like a newborn baby.
Shyly, she hid behind her father's leg
Uttered not a word to my greeting
Squeezed tighter the little creature
Afraid, I presume, that I should get
Too close and present a danger
To her treasured pet.
