Girl On A Green Hill Poem by Gordon R Menzies

Girl On A Green Hill

Rating: 5.0

You walked into another dream of mine
where there was a verdant hill and a view
your eyes like the grass, the sky, the earth
your painted toes, blue meadow flowers
in two neat rows amid the swaying green
they may have been red or perhaps yellow
there was a breeze, and I was that breeze
and we both delighted in your long hair
my wandering fingers played over the length
of your lovely pale leg, a remnant of winter
impossibly brilliant in keen sunlight dreamt

You looked away at the view, and I, at you
your smile was like a deer in the distance
curious, but hesitant and your lips, well,
they made no words in this dream, no
they were made only for kissing, and
nothing needed to be said about these
but that I took them like a hunter on that hill
