or vine is given to us.
All other foods
(animal or fish flesh,
dairy products, eggs,
vegetables) come
from killing.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
The milk of an angry nursing mother can make her child sick -Paramahansa Yogananda-
The vibrations of a cook enter the food -Sathya Sai Baba- (one reason Baba gave for not eating where animal flesh is served)
The terror and anger of an animal before and during slaughter remain in the animal flesh, not only in the adrenaline residue of the fright hormones he or she secreted (only some of which links are broken by cooking) but also on more subtle levels.
The mirror focused on the void receives no energy... focused on the sun it shines with his light
... a paraphrasing of Sathya Sai Baba on the need to focus on positive thought in order to be
charged with spiritual energy

Beautiful poem. Our ancients had deep sensitivities towards universe and its habitants. Food was a big part for keeping purity of thought.
