Oh look at the two fireflies
in our bedroom
One each rising above our
beds
How they hover
and give shape
to the darkness that we slip into
My heart fills
with a glow
as they circle joyously about each other
Now they have
drifted apart
to the opposite
ends of the room One falls
as if into an abyss
when sucked in
by the fan
I feel a panic and reach out
to touch you
Your body is still
You are leaping
somewhere in the dark
worlds of your sleep
