Fail To Love Poem by Kinyua Karanja

Fail To Love

If I speak in men and angelic tongues
And do not love, I am a sounding gong
If I speak in all languages of the world
And fail to love I am a tinkling cymbal
If I have the greatest gift of prophecy
And fail to love I am a just desert wind
If I comprehend all hidden mysteries
And have no love I am an ocean rain
If I have all the knowledge of the earth
And fail to love it earns me nothing
If I have faith so as to move mountains
And fail to love I am mid-night darkness
If I give everything I own to feed the poor
And fail to love I am barren desert
If I give my body to be burned as sacrifice
And have no love it profit me nothing
If I die fighting for the justice of the poor
And fail to love I am a passing cloud
If I preach and thousands are converted
And do not love, I am a roaring thunder
If learn and earn all academic degrees
And fail to love I am a rising smoke
If I labor and earn all the wealth
And fail to love I am waste wood ash
If I live for centuries in this world
And have no love I am just a dust
