Enjoy Life's Rewards Poem by Alice Cordy

Enjoy Life's Rewards

Rating: 5.0

At times my life feels hard,
Even though I'm holding onto my guard,
Wondering if I can continue on this road,
Constantly feeling like I want to explode.

Feelings that I have failed,
in more ways than one.
Like escaping jail
only to be on the run.
Not knowing which way to turn,
As my inner feelings continue to burn.

Closing my eyes wondering what I may desire,
even when I'm frustrated and tired.
Just wanting to hide away
And forget my day.
Going for a walks,
helps to forget my thoughts.
Driving has become a bit of a test,
Wondering if I will arrive safely back from my rest.

Trying to do the right thing for me
Only wanting to be free
Free from the pain like shooting bullets
To enjoy my life to the fullest.

I seem to be there for others,
Makes me wonder 'Why do I bother? '
Always offering courage and support,
Only ending up holding up the fort.
I don't know if I can continue to hold up this wall,
As night begins to fall.

As life has a lot in stored for me,
In time it will be something I will see
So look past all the troubles and rejoice
As you have a choice
To move forward,
To enjoy life's rewards.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM
Michael Mcparland 08 October 2014

I guarantee there are those for you too when you're ready. I wanted to offer that comment before I leave. I know that when you're ready there are those who'd give their life to return the love and strength. I know this in my heart. I'm leaving here because I feel I have no further use. I want to see you succeed. Believe me that they're those who will carry the weight with you when you're ready.
