Dillip K Swain - A True Poet But To Be A President Or Prime Minister Is Not As Easy As You May Say It. Poem by Bernedita Rosinha Pinto

Dillip K Swain - A True Poet But To Be A President Or Prime Minister Is Not As Easy As You May Say It.

I have been a Teacher
I can be only me
I cannot be a Prime Minister
I cannot be a President;
You are a true poet
you write poetry
you can be a Nobel laureate.
You can be only you.

I can only be me
we cannot be others
your mind is your power
my mind is my energy;
we have to be what we can be.

I have seen the magnificence of the world
you have seen the significance of the earth
your eyes hold worthiness in your evaluation
my eyes hold grandeur in my perception.

I have seen nightfall in the daylight
you must have seen lightening in the skies many times
you have not visualized what is darkness in the day
I have lived in full twenty-four hours of daylight in Finland.

I have never feared the oceans and continents
you must have also traveled over many seas and mountains
you must have seen realities in all its splendor
I have seen worthiness of life even in worst of pain and sorrow.

I have crossed bridges of love and hate ever since
you must have never walked over the tight rope of emergencies
you must have exercised caution and precaution
I have always left it to the Gods to balance my shortcomings.

I can only be me
you can only be you
you belong to this universe
you have the world as your treasure filled with opportunities
I have the strength of my dreams under the galaxies of stars
to assist me in my vivacity.

But I have always existed as me;
I always wanted to be myself - just myself
happy and proud of what I am
and who I am not as a President or a Prime Minister
but as person filled with simplicity and grace;
so yearn to be like me.
