Depression Poem by Christopher Montalvo

Depression

Radiating through the pain in his eyes,
Wonders how everyday,
He manages to get by.
Tired and lonesome,
Cold-hearted,
Anyone who inflicts harm is just another target.
As he walks down the streets to nowhere,
Strangers look for his smile,
A twinkling eye,
But only receive his cold shoulder,
Freezes them to death,
His own form of armor,
Protection from anyone who poses a threat
The one who will take away his last breath
Holds a candle to his chest,
Hopes to rekindle the flame in his heart,
Back to a place when he wasn't depressed,
A time when he wasn't a man taken apart.
