Deep Solo Poem by Gordon D Wilkinson

Deep Solo

Rating: 5.0

Solo my only preference
My own abilities the reference
A sport to which I am so dedicated
So alone completely elated
Legs pumping slow rhythm, no human sounds
Carrying those foreign extra pounds
Descending deeper by pre plan
Out of the realm of mere man

Rainbows colours turned azure
Shapes twenty fathoms below the lure
Gnarled misshapen plates of steel
Covered gardens immersed the keel
Battened still steel covered hatches
Everywhere the strands of lost catches
Silver flashes dart to hide
Along the deck to glide
Wheelhouse grouper intently peers
Unafraid of the interlopers’ presence
Massive fins quiver above the wheel he steers
The hulks new captain, in essence

Time stolen away so silently quick
A kick of fins the tips flex and flick
Slow timed controlled ascent
Carbon dioxide given time to vent
Sitting waiting in the void between
Noise invades the minds quiet green
Brought back to realities broken door
The confusion wells that I abhor
