Creative Solitude Poem by Al J. Cuesta

Creative Solitude

By thy nature solitude had always been a friend
It offered him protection but most of all, it helped him stray far away from sin
Surrounded by people he would never feel at ease
Standing alone, standing on his knees
Still he could not find a cure, to his restless disease
Ideas swarming,
Plagued his mind
Some truly loving,
Some deeply unkind
But choice would never suffice,
Feeding just one wolf
Oh no, he could never feed just one wolf
To live it all, the whole world to engulf,
Every experience known to mankind
The good, the bad,
The beautiful, the ugly
The appeasingly calm,
The shivering smugly
All he had to take in just one go
Go life, go, run the race
Who cares if you win it?
Don't even bother to own it
Just live it

Solitude his friend, would often inspire
Crazy ideas, reverberating through his head like a choir
On occasion, they would be good,
On occasion, they would be great,
On occasion, they questioned his fate.

Oh but what a beautiful curse, I've been laid.
