Can A Hand Outstretched Be Trusted? Poem by Tomás Ó Cárthaigh

Can A Hand Outstretched Be Trusted?

Rating: 5.0

Can a hand outstretched be trusted...
Can we without fear accept a smile...
Is all as it should be
Or should we be cautios all the while?

It takes nothing to offer a handshake,
Nothing to present a false face...
Though they may have the look and gestures of an angel,
Does not mean they possess their grace.

Such is the way of humanity
To times end from when it began,
Live the life the Lord wishes you to
And be wary of your fellow man.

If that hand has an axe, gun, knive or dripping with blood I'd give a serious team of neurons a warm up session before trusting such hands. Heh, seriously though interesting reflection of yours. Perhaps shared by many. Keep at it.
