Bright Blue Poem by Anisa Tara

Bright Blue

Rating: 5.0

There was a person I once knew
The color in her eyes were blue
I saw her in the mirror for 24 years
Then one day woke up to find
The color draining from her eyes
The brightest blue to dullest grey
Transitioning as life seeped away
I once knew this person to be me
But she is now a stranger to me
We commemorate the one year
And the five years and tens
As if it means anything at all
That we're drifiting further away
From the blue eyed girl I used to be
From the reason they're grey now
From the things that once made me
From the girl that died one March
And all the color she took with her
Took all the brilliant hues
Including this bright blue
