Belle Is Back
My name is Linda Bella, but
my friends all call me Belle.
My mother's name was Mary Lou;
my father's name was Mel.
I have a sister; her name's Sue,
but brothers have I none,
and I've one cousin; her name's Beth.
Best friend: Rosanna Dunn.
I've changed my name a hundred times
and 'moved' from place to place.
I've been most places you could name
except in outer space.
From number one in Canada
and Mexico and Spain
and Pakistan and Belarus - -
but what was there to gain?
I took a break for surgery;
that's one thing that was real,
and I'm not quite myself just yet;
it takes some time to heal.
At times I'm not inspired to write,
so don't expect a lot,
but if I get the urge to share,
I'll give it all I've got.
I must admit to have relished this undebatably fine magnum opus a vast deal. The second stanza's second line got me thinking up some fresh poem to compose right away...even before I'd finished reading the entire piece. You're an immensely talented lady of letters - kudos!
