As Lazy As Gods Poem by Irina Fisher

As Lazy As Gods

We're as lazy as Gods.
Waiting for the fruit to ripen.
Who cares if we sing the song of the rain
Or walk up the beaten path.

Somewhere in the parallel universe,
My other self's just come to grips:
So she's gonna stay alone
Beating her demons at last.

But here, in the heart of the rain,
Guarding my fair colleen,
Nobody could be happier
And lazier than the Gods.
