Age? Poem by Gordon D Wilkinson

Age?

Rating: 5.0

What is age?
I am trying to work it out
Too old to be young
Where do I try to fit?
Too young to be old
Can’t dance the latest moves
Know and like a lot of today’s songs
Hate the old old movies
Except for the ones I like
I must be getting old
Maybe just the body
The mind is young
Agile and alert
The memories are old
Still
New ones in the making
Age and youth all one
Rolled up in one parcel
Unable to be tagged either way
Nearer the end
A new life
New love
Starting at the beginning
So age; what is age?
Its life

Gordon: A question well put and well reasoned on but, ah, the answer is so elusive. Adeline

You are right. I find young people, however fine and beautiful they may be may be, misunderstand that we are all part of a process. The young are where I was. They will be where I am.
