A Wise Man Poem by Deluke Muwanigwa

A Wise Man

Rating: 5.0

A wiseman

There was an oldman who sat round a fire all the time
He seemed to know everything about life
Except his age
This was his advantage

He sounded wise even without wisdom teeth
He would teach
'The hare does not escape a burning trap twice'
Even if i did not understand it sounded nice
'The heart is like a tree which grows wherever it pleases'
I suspected this had to do with how love teases.

'Rivers in time can become fords'
Possibly a man got broke buying stuff he couldn't afford.
'The child of a king can become a servant in other kingdoms'
Everyday he would say these words of wisdom.
'A child who does not travel thinks his mom is the best cook.'
This sounding straight out of book

'A person who does not listen to advice will be seen with a gushing wound on the forehead'.
As if he knew i was arrogant beforehand.
When the wiseman passed on from this world
I remembered him by his every word.
A wise man
So sad.

A wise man with wise words. They know a lot through their experience of life.
