A Silly Poem (by Spike Milligan)
एक बेतुकी कविता (स्पाइक मिलिगन)
Hindi Translation by Rajnish Manga
हिंदी रूपांतरण रजनीश मंगा द्वारा

Said Hamlet to Ophelia,
I'll draw a sketch of thee,
What kind of pencil shall I use?
2B or not 2B?

हेमलेट ने आॅफ़िलिया से कहा,
मैं तुम्हारा एक स्केच बनाना चाहता हूँ,
भला कौन सी पेंसिल ठीक रहेगी?
2बी ऑर नॉट टू बी?

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This is a really a funny poem featuring two characters of Shakespeare's play 'Hamlet' namely Prince Hamlet and Ophelia. The narrative has no connection with the play. Further, 'To Be, Or Not To Be' is the opening phrase of a soliloquy spoken by Hamlet in a scene of this play. Here, this has been used as an analogy of '2B' pencils having a soft and dark lead which is easy to use for doing a sketch.

Ha, ha, ha....... This is such a funny and an interesting poem. Shakespeare's characters of his play and a play itself- to be or not to be' so well co-ordinated and integrated here with the the light and dark pencils. Though it is titled a silly poem, i think it is brilliant........10
